XDEEP NX Standard Backplate + DIR Harness - Stainless Steel

XDEEP's NX standard backplate in stainless steel, with the continuous one-piece DIR harness already assembled onto the plate. It arrives ready to dive rather than as a box of parts.

Stainless is the choice when you want the plate doing some of the weighting for you. At roughly 3.1–3.4 kg depending on size, it carries about two kilos more than the aluminium version — weight that sits flat against your back and in the right place, instead of on a belt around your waist. In a wetsuit, in cold water, or under a drysuit, that is two kilos of lead you stop thinking about.

The plate is shaped around where the load actually sits. A wider upper section spreads weight across the back rather than concentrating it, and the lower plate is formed to hold weight pockets and accessories where you put them. Under a twinset or with stages hanging off you, that is the difference between a long dive and a sore one.

The crotch strap is V-shaped rather than a single band, spreading pressure instead of focusing it on one line — most noticeable walking to the water in full kit, and again on a long deco hang.

Choosing your size

• S — for divers up to 175 cm. Plate length approx. 39 cm, weight approx. 3.06 kg.
• L — for divers from 175 cm. Plate length approx. 44.8 cm, weight approx. 3.38 kg.

Size by torso rather than by height alone if you are near the boundary. A plate that runs past your hips pushes the waist strap out of position; one that stops short leaves the shoulder D-rings sitting high.

• Backplate: stainless steel
• Harness: single continuous piece of webbing, pre-assembled on the plate, no joins to fail
• Webbing: 50 mm medium-strength polyamide — stronger than standard nylon and unaffected by salt water
• D-rings: 6 mm stainless wire, welded and polished, shaped to resist deforming under stage cylinders
